This past year has been one of the most challenging and transformative experiences of my life. Writing Mental Health & Murder: Understanding the Darkness That Consumed My Sister has been a journey I never imagined taking, yet one I've grown to deeply appreciate. It's been a process of revisiting memories, facing difficult truths, and ultimately, finding a sense of healing and understanding I didn't know I needed.
I make no bones about it, I know I'm not a professional writer. I know this book will be judged - harshly, by some. And that's okay. This was never about writing the perfect book, or meeting anyone else's expectations. This was my journey, it was my way of processing something deeply personal and painful. If sharing this story starts even one important conversation about mental health, then it will have been worth it.
The process has been cathartic, allowing me to work through emotions that I've held onto for far too long. It's been painful at times but also incredibly helpful. It's given me a space to make sense of everything while shedding light on topics that are often too heavy to discuss openly.
Now, after months of writing, rewriting, writing some more and then some reflection, I'm almost at the finish line. The book is nearly ready to share, and I couldn't be more excited - or humbled - to bring it to the world. My goal in sharing this story has always been about more than just recounting events. It's about shining a light on mental health, family dynamics, and the resilience we find in the face of unimaginable circumstances.
I'm thrilled to announce that Mental Health & Murder is set to launch just before Christmas this year. As we approach the holiday season - a time for connection and reflection - I hope this book will resonate with some of those who pick it up, providing both understanding and a sense of shared humanity.
To everyone who has supported me throughout this journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your encouragement has meant everything to me, and I can't wait to share this story with you.
Stay tuned for the official release date, and thank you for being a part of this with me.
Warm regards,
Joe
